What settles on the skin is the oil itself: an authentic feel, with a soft, muted glow rather than a synthetic shine. Many serums lean on added ingredients purely to create a certain feel on skin, without necessarily bringing any nourishment or antioxidant activity of their own — in Skin Silk, the silkiness comes from the actives themselves, which also makes it a natural partner for gua sha: enough glide for the tool to move smoothly, without ever sitting on top of the skin like a silicone-based oil would. A little goes a long way: one to three drops, warmed between the palms, is enough for the whole face.

Aroma

Bright, herbaceous, and green, with a soft, balsamic hush of olive underneath and the faintest trace of berry, delicate rather than sweet, and never heavy-handed. Not added, not designed. What you smell is what nourishes you.

Squalene

Because this serum contains no fillers, water, or additives, a little goes a long way. One to three pumps is all you need — concentrated nourishment with nothing wasted.

How long it lasts

Used morning and evening with one to three pumps each time, a 10ml bottle typically lasts around 1 to 1.5 months when used on its own. Blended into your Niki Newd® cream or balm rather than worn alone, a little goes even further — closer to 2 to 3 months. Exact duration will vary depending on bottle size, your skin type, and how much you use each time.

Best before

Fresh skincare works differently from preserved formulas. To enjoy the full potency of the oils, use within 6 months of manufacture. No preservatives means no compromises on efficacy — which is why we blend fresh in small batches.

Yes. Skin Silk can support skin hydration without containing water, because hydration is not only about adding water — it is also about helping the skin hold on to the water it already has.

Water is constantly moving through the skin and evaporating from its surface. A healthy lipid barrier helps slow this transepidermal water loss. When the skin is lacking lipids, water escapes more easily and the skin can begin to feel dry, tight or less supple.

Skin Silk supports the other side of hydration: its whole plant oils provide fatty acids, squalene and other skin-compatible lipids that soften the surface and help reinforce the lipid environment responsible for keeping moisture in the skin. This is how an oil-based serum can improve the feeling of hydration without containing water itself.

The result is a different kind of hydration from a water-based humectant serum — less about adding water, more about helping the skin preserve its own moisture while replenishing it with nutrient-rich lipids.

CO-FOUNDER'S  note

We built Skin Silk because we wanted our skin to have more to feed on — like a vitamin shot where variety and richness truly nourish. We had been using pre-retinol ingredients for years, but we wanted a formula designed specifically around them, and around lycopene in particular.

Lycopene is quietly remarkable. It is the compound that gives tomatoes their red color, it is structurally similar to retinol, and it acts as a concentrated antioxidant on the skin. It helps defend against the everyday oxidative stress that dulls a complexion over time, but without the sensitivity that synthetic retinol can bring.

Finding the right source took time. After testing several options, we settled on tomato seed oil, which simply outperformed rosehip oil (the more familiar lycopene source in skincare). We paired it with a quintet of Nordic and Arctic berry seed oils and a rare, early-harvest olive oil. The result surprised even us: it became an immediate team favorite.

What we love most is how Skin Silk wins people over. It is lighter than what most expect from a 100% active, water-free formula. The texture is beautifully unique, and we have heard from customers with rosacea-prone skin that this lightness, paired with calming omega fatty acids, has brought genuine comfort to their routine.
